Show Choir Tryouts

This Tuesday, I auditioned for a spot in Show Choir. The audition consisted of a mandatory dance number, an optional dance number, and a mandatory 32 bar song. I really did well in both of the dances and I did pretty good in the song. Now I am just waiting for the results.

AUDITIONS!!!!!!

Last Wednesday, I had auditions for the Spring musical Cinderella. The auditions were a little rocky, but I got my self a call-back. Last Friday was the call backs for Cinderella. The dance portion went extremely well and the singing was decent. After all of the extraneous performing, I managed to score an ensemble role for the musical!!!!!!!!! So all of you reading have to come out next semester and see us perform!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

On Thursday was Thanksgiving. This is definitley one of my favorite holidays b/c of all the delicious food. It was just my mom and I this year, but when we were done we went and visited family.THe holiday was tons of fun and I can't wait until Christmas!!!!

Glory Days

On Wednesday, Anna and I went back to my high school to catch up with old friends and teachers. I was kinda cool coming back and seeing everyone, but overall it didn't compare to CU.

~MACBETH~

On Thursday night, my friend Rachael and I went to the Little Theatre to see Macbeth. The production was amazing. The set was very cool, with a wood/rock filled stairway and a digital screen for a backdrop, all designed by Karl Jacobson. The costumes were very gothic/contempary, which gave the show an awesome look. The actors were very talented. Among the players was Jesse McIlvaine, who really embodied the character of Macbeth. Also Drew Williams captivated the audience with her potrayal of Lady Macbeth. Another notable performance was Gabrielle Greco, who never ceases to amaze the audience. Unfortuatley, Jesse fell with a dislocated knee in the final battle scence. He was rushed to the hospital and the production finished the five minutes left of the show. Get better man! You did Great! Overall the production was yet again a MUST SEE.

Human Trafficking

On Thursday night, I went to Hart Chapel to see a viewing of the movie Human Trafficking. The was presented by students Jennifer Hetrick and Amy Covell. It was sponsored by the PASSHE Women's Consortium. The was a very impacting story about the true events of human trafficking. Human trafficking is a modern day sexual slavery of women and children all over the world. The movie was a very good event to get students aware of this horrifying crime.

Battle of the Voices

Tonight at the Gemmell Rotunda, the UAB held its third "Open Mic Night". The performances were strong from all. Among the performances was Josh Klugh, who got the crowd started with a self-written song called "Trade". Also at the event was Russ Phillips, whose voice as well as songs transcended throughout. But it was Pete Protivnak, wo rocked the crowd with songs such as Every Little Step and All I Ask of You. Good job Pete!! Overall the performances were awesome and a great display of talent!

Uncensored

This Halloween, my friends and I went to Hart Chapel for the Ghost Stories: Uncensored, led by Dr. Todd. The event was very cool, and was a little scary. He went over stories such as the ghost of Chapel, Becht, and the ghost miners. Overall it was very interesting.

!Ghost Tour!

On Thursday, A couple of my friends and I went on the annual ghost tour, headed by Dr. Todd. The tour had some very interesting stories about occurrences that happened on campus! Among the stories were the ghost of Hart Chapel, Givan, Founders, Wilkinson, and Becht. I really enjoyed the tour and hope its continues next year!

Second Series!!!

This Saturday I attended the second series at Hart Chapel entitled Truth Pulsed On. The show was amazing with the acting as well as the concept behind it. The show was created by Andrew Resch. He did a wonderful job at challenging the audience's mind as well as creating a masterpiece. I gave the show a 4.5 out of 5. Great Job!!!!!!

ThreePenny Opera

On Thursday night, I went with a couple of friends and saw the university's production of ThreePenny Opera. The show was awesome! It's dark tone made the play extremely humorous. The biggest highlight of the musical was definitely the cast. Not only did they sing well, but the acting was very believable. Overall, its was an outstanding show!

Completed My First Package!

On Monday after anchoring, the news manager Tiffany and I went down to ALF to report on Cultural Night. It was pretty cool. We got shots of the band Jeffrey Michael Lloyd, and some shots of the audience reactions. After that I did my first stand-out. Stand-outs are the sign offs reporters give after shooting a story. Overall, I had a lot of fun and it turned out pretty good!

WCUB-TV

On Tuesday, I had my first meeting with the staff at WCUB-TV. They went over the various departments, as well as what they expect of us as the new crew. The department I chose to be apart of was the news. I'm planning on auditioning next week for a position for anchor!

Social life

The Social life on campus is really cool. There is more than enough organizations to keep you busy and there is always a party going on somewhere. And as far as the ethnicities go, there is a vast range of cultures ranging from caucasion to african american to asian, and many more!

Move-In Day

Hey guys, just moved in. I moved into Wilkinson, and its nice. My roommate Derek is a cool guy. The move-in initially sucked, but after I got all my stuff in its was pretty cool. Overall, I like the campus and the people here!
